King Leonidas of Sparta (The Defender of Thermopylae) is a one-of-a-kind water sprinkler modified to feel only hate. During normal operation, he will passively sprinkle water onto a 180° patch of grass - but keep a watchful eye on a nearby path. When any human-sized object walks into his range, he will punish their transgression with a shower of ice-cold water.
A fun prank during the summer and a powerful weapon in winter, the Defender of Thermopylae was built for the Principles of Engineering at Olin College by a group of sophomores. The code that it runs on can be found on github and the plans for the laser-cut servo mount and gearbox are on grabcad, for any who want to bring the fun and/or terror of King Leonidas into their own home. We hope you enjoy. |
